Crochet Your Way Through the Zodiac: Rat to Pig, Starting with Snooky the Lucky Snake Free Crochet Pattern!

The Lunar New Year in 2025 falls on January 29, marking the beginning of the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac. Symbolizing wisdom, transformation, and renewal, the snake is the sixth animal in the zodiac cycle. To celebrate this auspicious start to 2025, I’m excited to share a free crochet pattern called “Snooky the Lucky Snake.” This design not only honors the year’s zodiac animal but also sets the tone for a creative and lucky year ahead. As a fun project for the year, I plan to release crochet patterns inspired by all 12 Chinese zodiac animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Originally designed with fingering lace yarn for a delicate and intricate finish, this pattern can also be adapted to use worsted weight yarn for a sturdier and more plush doll. Whether you’re gifting it to a loved one or keeping it for yourself, this cute doll is sure to bring a smile to your face. All our patterns use American crochet terminology.
